Terms

What you agree to when you order food or book a table with us, by phone or by email.

Last updated .

1. Who you are ordering from

Bude Tandoori is a trading name of BUDE TANDOORI LIMITED, registered in England and Wales, company number 12012178. The restaurant is at 12 Burn View, Bude, Cornwall EX23 8BZ. Its registered office is 25 Lemon Street, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 2LS, which is our accountant’s address and not a place to turn up for dinner.

Bangladeshi and Indian cooking, serving Bude since 2009. Open 17:00 – 23:30, closed on Tuesdays from 1 October to 1 April. Telephone 01288 359994, or the second line, 01288 352504. Email budetandoori09@gmail.com.

These terms cover orders and bookings made by phone or by email. Nothing here takes away a right the law gives you.

We are not on Just Eat, Deliveroo or Uber Eats. To order a takeaway, ring us or email us.

2. How to order, and collection only

Ring us on 01288 359994, or email your order to budetandoori09@gmail.com. For tonight, ringing is quickest.

The menu on this website lets you pick dishes into a list and adds up the total. It can write the email for you in your own email app. The website never sends an order itself, and nothing is sent until you ring us or press Send.

We don't deliver. Collection from Burn View only.

3. The total we agree is the total you pay

Prices are the ones on our menu. The total we agree with you, on the phone or in our email reply, is the whole of it: every dish, every option and any discount taken off, including any tax that applies. Nothing is added at the counter.

There is no service charge, no booking fee, no small-order fee and no card fee, because there is no card. The running total on this website is worked out from the same menu prices. If a figure on this site is ever wrong, tell us on 01288 359994 and we will fix it that night.

4. Cash only, when you collect

Cash only. You pay when you collect. We cannot take cards or cheques. There is no card form anywhere on this website, no payment step and no payment company behind it, because the website takes no money.

That means there is nothing to refund and nothing to cancel at your end if an order falls through: no money has moved. It also means you should bring the notes with you.

Dining in is cash only too. We cannot take cards or cheques for that either.

5. When the order becomes an order

The contract is made when we accept your order: on the phone, or when we reply to your email. Until then there is no contract and you owe nothing. An email on its own is not an order until we reply, and email is read between services, so for tonight, please ring.

We can turn an order down, and sometimes we have to: the kitchen is fuller than it can cook for, we have run out of something on your list, there is not enough notice for what you have asked for, or we have had to close. If that happens we tell you why, on the phone or by email. Nothing has been cooked and nothing is owed.

On the phone we read your order back to you. By email, our reply lists it. If any of it is wrong, ring us.

6. Times are an estimation

We cook to order rather than holding food, so at busy times a kitchen runs over. Any time we give you, on the phone or by email, is an estimation and not a promise. If you need the food for a set time, tell us when you order and we will work to it.

Please be patient at busy times as our food is freshly prepared and cooked to order, so there may be a small wait.

7. Kursi Lamb needs a day’s notice

Kursi Lamb is a whole leg of lamb, roasted and brought to the table, and it serves up to four. It needs 24 hours’ notice, so order it at least a day ahead, by phone or by email. The rest of your order is cooked for the same time.

Any dish not on the menu can be made up on request. Ring the restaurant on 01288 359994 and ask, or put it in your email and we will ring you if there is a question about it.

8. The discount

10% comes off collection orders over £25.00, when you pay. There is no code to enter. The running total on the menu shows how close you are, and the discount is in the total we agree with you.

9. Changing or cancelling an order

Ring us straight away on 01288 359994, or the second line, 01288 352504. We cook to order, so once the kitchen has started your dishes we may not be able to cancel them. Please ring rather than email to change or cancel: email is read between services, and by then the food may already be cooking.

The fourteen-day cooling-off period does not apply here

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, a customer buying at a distance usually gets fourteen days to change their mind. Freshly cooked food is one of the exceptions: it is made to your specification and it goes off. A table booked for a particular evening is another — catering for a specific date sits outside the right as well.

So the practical position is the honest one: ring us and we will do what we can, and if the kitchen has not started your food, that is usually everything.

10. A table is booked once we confirm it

Book by phone or by email. We confirm on the phone, or by replying to your email. Until we have, the table is not held. For the same evening, please ring 01288 359994.

There is no deposit and no cancellation fee. If your plans change, ring either number and tell us — a table sitting empty on a Friday costs a small restaurant real money, and a phone call takes a moment.

11. Allergens, and what each of us is responsible for

We prepare food in a kitchen that handles nuts, milk, gluten and shellfish.

If you have a food allergy or a special dietary requirement, please inform a member of our staff before you place your order. Tell us about any allergy when you ring, or write it in your email, and we will read it back to you before we take the order.

For anything serious, please ring as well: 01288 359994, or the second line, 01288 352504. An email is not the same as a conversation with the person cooking.

We will not tell you a dish is free of anything. One kitchen, shared pans, shared oil, shared surfaces. We can tell you what goes into a dish and we can leave things out where the recipe allows it, but we cannot promise a dish has never met a nut.

Read the allergens page

We cannot yet list the allergens dish by dish. If you have an allergy or an intolerance, ring us before you order and we will check with the kitchen.

12. Drink

Fully licensed. Bar on site — beer, wine and spirits. Drink is served in the dining room. We work to the Licensing Act 2003. We may ask to see identification, and we can refuse to serve anybody.

13. If something is wrong

Ring either number, or email budetandoori09@gmail.com, and we will put it right. The sooner you tell us the more we can do — a dish that is wrong at half past seven can be recooked; the same dish reported on Monday cannot.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 says food you buy from us must be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose, and as it was described to you. If it is not, you are entitled to a remedy, and nothing on this page limits that.

How to complain

  1. Ring 01288 359994, or the second line, 01288 352504, any evening we’re open, from 17:00. This is the route that fixes things.
  2. Or write to budetandoori09@gmail.com. Email is read between services, so for anything about tonight, please ring.
  3. Or write to the restaurant at 12 Burn View, Bude, Cornwall EX23 8BZ, marking it for the manager.

We answer complaints ourselves. If we cannot settle something between us, you can take it to Cornwall Council’s trading standards service through the Citizens Advice consumer helpline, and your statutory rights are unaffected either way.

If we cannot settle a complaint between us, you can take it to Citizens Advice, who pass consumer complaints to Trading Standards.

14. The reviews quoted on this site

Every customer review quoted on this site was written by a member of the public on Google or TripAdvisor and is reproduced word for word, with the reviewer’s name, their star count, the month and year, and a link to the review itself. We have not corrected anybody’s spelling, we have not written any of them, and we have not paid for, incentivised or commissioned a single one.

We publish no star average anywhere on this site, and no rating figure in the site’s own markup, because those are the review platforms’ numbers rather than ours to present. If you want the averages, they are on Google and TripAdvisor, where the reviews are.

15. Using the website itself

Please do not place orders you do not intend to collect.

The menu, the words and the pictures on this site belong to BUDE TANDOORI LIMITED or to the people who made them for us. Print the menu, copy the address, send a friend a link to a dish — all of that is what it is for. Republishing the site’s content as your own is not.

We aim to keep the site up at all hours and we will not promise it. If it is down, the telephone is not: 01288 359994, or the second line, 01288 352504, from 17:00.

16. Responsibility

We are responsible for loss you suffer that we caused, where it was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use care and skill. We are not responsible for something neither of us could have foreseen.

Nothing on this page limits or excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for a breach of your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or for anything else the law does not allow a business to exclude. Food safety and allergen duties in particular cannot be signed away and we do not attempt it.

17. Changes, and which law applies

These terms may change. The version that applies is the one on this page on the day you ordered or booked, and the date at the top says when it last changed.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, and if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can bring it in the courts there instead.

What we do with your name, your phone number and your order is a separate matter and is set out in the Privacy Notice.
